After a beautiful afternoon at Wiley Stadium in Waynesburg, PA, The Ohio State University Buckeyes defeated George Mason University by a score of 42-27, winning the 2021 NCFA National Championship! The 2021 NCFA National Championship MVP was awarded to Kellyn Gerenstein. Congratulations to Ohio State on their remarkable season and for becoming only the second team to win back-to-back championships in league history!
At the conclusion of the Week 9 Conference Championship, the NCFA saw some great football to round out the season for most teams. To recap, #1 Columbus State was dethroned by #6 Gordon State in the South Atlantic Conference Championship title! #2 Ohio State was able to defeat #8 Wright State for the second week in a row to take home the Great American Conference Championship title! #3 George Mason takes down #7 Pitt for the second time this year in convincing fashion to snag the Mid-Atlantic Conference title! Undefeated #4 UW-Milwaukee was toppled by #10 Oakland, as the Golden Grizzlies retained the Great Lakes Conference title for the 5th straight year! #4 Sacred Heart took home the North Atlantic Conference title by way of forfeit from # 9 Vermont to wrap up their season. At the conclusion of Week 8, the NCFA sees some major moves in the Power Rankings! Columbus State remains in the #1 spot going into their Conference Championship game against a tough #6 in Gordon State. Ohio State is able to jump to #2 after their big win against Wright State in their conference matchup last week! George Mason moves to #3 and that puts them in close contention for a chance to play for the title going into Conference Championship week. Week 4 marks the first week that the official power rankings are released! Columbus State remains in the top spot in both the power rankings and the coach’s poll rankings. The Ohio State Buckeyes remain 2nd in the eyes of the voters, but the power rankings put them at #3. Finally, Sacred Heart moves up the board to claim 2nd in the power rankings while the voters have them pegged at the #3 spot! Columbus State has retained their #1 spot this week in the NCFA power rankings after their grueling victory over longs time rival, Middle Georgia State. The Ohio State Buckeyes got back in the win column after an easy victory against Oakland in a 2019 National Championship rematch! Toledo picked up their first win against Michigan State this week and Pitt beat Wright State to push themselves up the board as well. Long time NCFA powerhouse Columbus State has taken over the #1 spot this week in the NCFA power rankings after the Cougars convincing win against Wright State.
